Q: Does it cost money to be a VG?

A: The VGs travel extensively and internationally, and we believe that financial barriers should not be a concern for members or auditionees. The group itself covers all necessary expenses.

Q: Do I need to know how to tie a bowtie?

A: No.  Tristan still doesn't know how, and he's our Business Manager this year.

Q:  Do I need prior choral or singing experience?

A: No.  Some current VGs had literally only sung in the shower before showing up to Pavilion IV for their auditions.

Q: Who can audition?

A: Anyone!  We are seriously excited to meet each and every auditionee that comes out. We don't grant or restrict membership on the basis of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, politics, or disability.

Q: Can I audition multiple times?

A: Of course.  Many VGs auditioned several times before getting in. "Look at me now," says Jack.

Q: Can I audition for multiple groups at UVA?

A: Yes.  When auditions are over, if you have been accepted to multiple groups, you will have a period of time in which to pick your favorite.

Q: Where can I listen to VG music before auditioning?

A: You can find the groups' latest albums or live recordings of concerts on YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Q: Are there any other questions I should be asking?

A: Good question.
